Kristen Anne Bell (born 1980) is a popular American performer and actress. Her birthplace and childhood was in Huntington Woods, Michigan, and is the daughter of Lorelei (Frygier), a nurse and Tom Bell, a television news director. Kristen is from Polish descent (mother) as well as German, English and Scottish (father). Kristen was already a skilled performer from a young age. She was just 12 when she went to her first audition, and was able to win a role in Raggedy Ann and Andy. Bell 13, who was 13 when her mother signed up for an agent, was cast on advertisements for newspapers and television. In addition to taking private lessons, she began her acting career around that time. Bell made an appearance in Polish Wedding (2000) in 1998, as an uncredited actress. Bell was a student at Shrine Catholic High School, where she was a member of the musical and drama clubs. The Wizard of Oz production at the high school she attended earned her the starring Dorothy role. Bell was then transferred to New York City, to the Tisch School of the Arts. She was a musical theatre student there. Bell quit her studies in 2001 and began playing Becky who is a character from Tom Sawyer. In 2001, Bell was the first to make her credit debut as Becky in Pootie Tang. However, her scene was cut out of the movie and she was not even as a credit. The year 2002 saw her first major role. Bell appeared on the Broadway version of The Crucible with Liam Neeson and Angela Bettis.
