Rachel Keller

RachelRachel Keller is a fictional character in The Ring film series. The character was developed by producer and writer Ehren Kruger, and played by Naomi Watts, serves as the main character in The Ring and The Ring Two, sharing similarities to Reiko Asakawa, the protagonist of the original Japanese films.Introduced in 2002's film, Rachel is an investigative journalist, who must find a way to escape death after having watched a cursed video tape that she discovered while investigating the murder of her niece. Rachel has to look into the past of Samara Morgan her son in The Ring Two. Ruth Rachel's sister asks Rachel to investigate the mysterious reasons behind Katie's sudden demise. She informs Rachel that she discovered her daughter's distorted corpse in the closet. She also informs Rachel that the cause of Katie's death was due to a heart attack even though Katie being an incredibly healthy teenager. Katie's family members tell Rachel the tale of the cursed videotape myth and Katie's best friend Becca being institutionalized for witnessing Katie pass away. She also discovers Katie's boyfriend, as well as two of her friends all suffered fatal accidents the same evening at 10 PM. Rachel goes to Shelter Mountain Inn and stays at Cabin 12, the same cabin that Katie and her friends watched the cursed videotape. Rachel uncovers the tape and plays the tape. The phone rings. Rachel hears a voice utter "seven days". Rachel turns to Noah Clay, her ex-boyfriend and a video analyst for assistance. Later, Rachel discovers that Aidan, her son with Noah was watching the tape just as Noah calls her and informs her that he is convinced by her. Rachel searches the tape for the lighthouse and discovers it is situated on Moesko Island. This was the residence of Anna Morgan, an evil horse breeder who was cursed to be on the cursed tape. After investigating, Rachel discovers Anna had an adopted daughter named Samara and she had the ability to create disturbing images into the minds of people or animals, as well as objects. Rachel meets Anna's widower Richard Richard, however, he demands her leave after she starts to ask questions about Samara.
